From a distance, the Sliding House by drMM Architects may look like the red block hotel you would erect on a Monopoly game board. Though if you’ve ever imagined what the interior and exterior of your famed property would look like, the result might be something like this.
The house is built into three parts: the house, garage and annex. The most impressive aspect of this house is the 20-ton mobile roof, which can be customized and “slid” to the desires of the buyer to create any combination of enclosure and open-air spaces.
The garage is also pulled away from the main structure, allowing you to decide to leave the courtyard gulf between garage and house intact, or slide the roof over the courtyard in order to turn it into whatever you’d like. Personally, I’d suggest a roofed outdoor basketball court or roofed heated swimming pool.
We could talk all day about the various combinations that are available, but that would be like describing the amount of permutations in a standard combination lock. Just know that whether mountain or valley, there is one house that can meet your desires wherever you find yourself displaced to.
