About DJ Skratch Bastid

Skratch Bastid's humble beginnings began a decade ago as a teenager in Halifax, Canada, pumping out mixtapes from his bedroom and earning a loyal following. He slowly spread his skills first at DJ competitions like DMC, ITF, and Scribble Jam and now, around Canada and the world, is a widely recognized go-to-guy for party-rocking.

Icarus (Keys-N-Krates Remix) by Madeon

Keys-N-Krates have a kick-ass live show and their production releases keep getting better and better. This remix captures the energy they have on stage and takes the house-y original track in a funkier, head-nod direction. Tough task with great results. —Buy Music

02
The Don by Nas

Nothing not to like here musically, a Super Cat vocal sample, banging 808s, Nas rapping his ass off. Salaam Remi produced another winner. —Buy Music

03
The Perfect Match by Onra

One of those vocal loops that just gets stuck in your head. France's Onra has a great ear for samples, but never relies too heavily on them; he puts his stamp on everything he uses. Consistent dude. —Buy Music

Ronald Reagan by Killer Mike

I've always been a fan of Killer Mike. His new record R.A.P. Music is one of my favourites so far this year, thanks to some heavy writing (and delivery, obviously) and what many say is an odd couple combination with El-P on the beats. I think it fits naturally, with great results. Not for the casual listener, but that's what I liked about rap in the first place. —Buy Music

Flashing Lights by BADBADNOTGOOD

It's exciting to follow BBNG. They put music & videos out at a pace that keeps up with modern appetites (read: insatiable), but without sacrificing the quality of the work. Could be that they are all great players. Their version of Kanye's "Flashing Lights" shows off their ability to take a given modern musical theme in their own direction. —Buy Music
