Gray Malin captures luxury of beachside beauty from a birds eye perspective. Imparting the colour that comes within a umbrella dotted beach, the result of this work is a sunny new depiction of a summer unseen to those simply baking in the sun.

While this work can easily be tacked on as a somewhat bourgeois decadent take on beach culture, the beauty really remains in the efforts to capture contrast, colour and pattern. Did the umbrella designers know that their work could be perceived so greatly? The efforts of middle aged women that have spent their lives earning a tan in a bright bikini cannot be overlooked either. Littering the sea side, who would’ve guessed frivolity could look so good there?

Malin’s ability to capture this mesh of natural and constructed beauty probably looks great hanging in a financial office space somewhere. Although, equally as nice in the midst of a heatwave where one can only dream of turquoise water and a coconut filled with rum.
