In terms of the Lakers, there are a lot of numbers being thrown around right now, namely, that the team has to go approximately 30-15 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. Uh, guys, they're only three games back of the Rockets for the eighth seed. Meaning: Count on Kobe.

Sure, for the last few years the magic number in the Western Conference has been 48 wins to make the playoffs. I get it. The Lakers are hard pressed to get there. But with all of your looking into the future, you guys forgot to check the present. The Lakers are only three games back of the Rockets, who are stumbling and fumbling with a recent six losses in a row. What does that tell you? Quite simply, you can be in it or not with just one win streak, although admittedly, sliding into the eighth seed for a date with the Thunder is not something you wish for. There's still half a season to go, and if we're to believe the Nike commercials, then we know the Lakers are going to make it, because we can #CountonKobe. Sincerely, die hard Lakers fan.

We know who you expect to come out of the East (ahem, Heat). And really, there’s no one to challenge them (sorry, Knicks fans). But in the West, the team that wins the right to tackle the juggernaut from Miami will certainly be battle-tested. This is just round one.
