The worst basketball injury EVER!
It still makes me squeamish, so turn away if injuries make you writhe. The injury to Louisville’s Kevin Ware may have been the most devastating basketball injury ever.

It seemed like a simple play, Kevin Ware jumped to contest a shot. But after landing with the full weight of his body on his leg, the leg snapped. The first initial replays showed the bones poking through the skin of Ware, with him writhing in agony. After two replays, CBS decided not to show it anymore, and rightfully so. It was too hurtful towards his family to do so.

In comparison, the injury to Shaun Livingston a few years ago was tough to watch, but this injury was almost impossible to fathom even happening. How the Louisville players continued playing when even jumping seemed like a fearful act is a testament to their grit, and one of the reasons why they are now on their way to the Final Four in Atlanta. Fittingly, Ware is from Atlanta, and will be there to greet his teammates. But hopefully, we never see an injury like this ever again.

We know who you expect to come out of the East (ahem, Heat). And really, there’s no one to challenge them (sorry, Knicks fans). But in the West, the team that wins the right to tackle the juggernaut from Miami will certainly be battle-tested. This is just round one.
