Such is the case with Alessandro Zambelli’s Affilia lamps, which uses traditional materials from northern Italy with the newest 3D printing technology. Afillia, in botanical terms, means leafless. The name is a reflection of the stripping of excess from the lamps.
The collection-which includes three table lamps and three pendant lights-have a base made of Swiss pine and a polyamide light diffuser. The shape of the comb-like shade ensures light is evenly distributed from the center outwards, forming small halo bursts when lit.
The shapes might be simple, but you never want a lamp to be the showpiece or anchor in your room (unless it’s a chandelier). Just let them light the way and hide in the background.
